Microsoft Oracle

Why don’t Oracle and Microsoft IT people get along well?
People tend to be passionate about the products they use. This is usually a good thing. It’s the same sort of spirit that kept Apple alive before the IPod and keeps high schools rooting for their own team no matter what. (It’s also why so many people love to hate Microsoft).
I’ve never observed this friction you’re talking about. I assume you’re referring to independent IT people who use Microsoft SQL Server vs independent IT people who use Oracle, rather than the two companies. I’ve used both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server and they’re both fine products. But if your training is on one, and you’ve invested hundreds of hours learning it, you’re bound to be a little more loyal to it.
The two companies themselves actually work together very closely. They need to ensure that eachother’s products and networking systems work together well.
Hope this helps.
