Recovering USB Flash Drive Information or Windows recognition?

I re-installed windows xp (previously had it on computer keeping my Windows Me settings), but while doing so I believe my portable USB Flash Drive that had my document files on it was in the USB port. Is it possible that during the complete reformating of my computer’s hard drive, my USB drive was also erased?

More likely External Media is not formatted during reinsalltion of any operating system, and If the drive appears in My Computer, it is fine and you don’t need to install drivers for the drive.
In your case, it seems as if your windows is unable to recognize the drive and re-installing the drivers will solve the problem. Do you have any cd came with the drive? Use it.
