What Is The Best Book Layout In Microsoft Word?
Does anybody know the best standard book layout in Microsoft Word? I want to self-publish a horror anthology paperback, but need the standard guidelines for when I convert it to PDF (e.g. the best margin settings, text formatting etc.).
I also need some good advice on the best file format for the book cover?
For manuscripts use normal 2.54 cm margins all round (1″) , fully justified alignment and double line spacing. Number the pages in the footer, either centred or mirrored. Be consistent in styles, so either use the styles already there, i.e. Headings, body etc or create your own. Use a font that is easily legible by people with possibly reading difficulties, i.e. dyslexics by using a sans serif font – Arial or Comic Sans MS for example. Do a contents page which will not be numbered (so start your page numbering in the footer by using different first page header/footer). If you have references or bibliography, use footnotes. Have your grammar check and readability statistics set to formal/high.
