Microsoft Mail Problems
Has anyone had big problems with their computer after installing Microsoft Service Pack 2?
I have now installed and uninstalled service pack 2 twice. First time it took all night and then would not complete at cleanup. Big problems with computer after that. I uninstalled and contacted Microsoft when Spybot came up with weird spyware that contained Microsoft security system. Also I lost my Nortons internet security. Microsoft mailed me their disc. I paid $3.50 for p&h. Again it took all night. This time I was kicked off the internet every 10 minutes. Weird messages again coming up. Worked with Microsoft again to no avail. They claimed it was a virus although all scans broght up nothing. I uninstalled again and problem stopped but its obvious pack 2 is the problem. However they will no longer send updates until you do pack 2. Anyone else out there with these problems?
I have looked at a lot of computers that experienced problems after downloading SP2. The main reason was they had background programs running (those in the system tray next to the clock). When these were closed down and SP2 re-installed, there were no probs.
So, I suggest you do the following:
1. Go to http://www.toniarts.com and download EasyCleaner, install it and then run it. This will clear out unnecessary entries in your Registry.
2. Before installing SP2, right-click each program in the system tray and exit all of them so that the only thing visible is the clock.
3. Run your SP2 CD to install.
4. When complete, restart your computer (the items in the system tray will be restarted, and this is okay)
This should fix your problem with SP2.
